John is President of Team One Network, LLC a company established to test, evaluate, train and market various manufacturers' products to the Law Enforcement community as related to officer survival. John spent 15 years with Heckler & Koch, Inc., ultimately rising to the position of Vice President of Sales and International Training. John led a team of instructors that pioneered the integration of formalized training doctrine with practical field experience. These cutting edge, realistic tactical training courses have become an industry standard. John was a Lieutenant with the DOD Police, where he served as a special reaction team leader and is a past President of FOP Middle Forge Lodge 100. He is Vice President of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI) a member of the Policeone.com Advisory Board and a member of the Police Magazine Advisory Board.
Mark is a former Marine Corps Primary Marksmanship Instructor and member of the Parris Island Rifle and Pistol Team. Mark is currently a Corporal in the Pennsylvania State Police, with 20+ year's experience, spending 15 years as a Patrol Trooper and Criminal Investigator. Mark has spent the last 5+ years as a Staff Instructor at the State Police Academy as a weapons and tactics instructor. Mark currently serves as the supervisor for the Advanced Training Division's In-Service Unit, responsible for developing curriculum and conducting advanced training for State, Local and other authorized law enforcement officers in a wide range of courses.
Phil has worked for twenty five years for the New Castle County Police, DE as unit commander and trainer for all K-9 teams. Phil was responsible for approx 15 outside agencies for their initial K-9 training in narcotics, explosives and patrol training as well as their monthly in-service training. He served as a member of the SWAT team for the last 15 years of his career specializing in building entry and acted as both assistant and team leader. During his career he was awarded the Medal of Valor as well as a citation for Heroism and Bravery. He is part owner of AK9A were he oversees all K-9 activities regarding training or deployment and currently works with Blackhawk Products Group where he is part of the Special Operations Business Development Team.
Wayne is a 20 year veteran law enforcement officer in North Carolina with a background in patrol and special operations. Currently, Wayne is the lead firearms instructor with the North Carolina Justice Academy in Salemburg, NC responsible for the training of all potential law enforcement firearms instructors in NC. Wayne co-developed the Rapid Deployment to the Active Shooter in NC and has delivered training to instructors, law enforcement agencies, and school officials and staff nationally. In addition, Wayne has served in the NC Army National Guard for the past 24 years and is currently assigned as the Operations and Training Officer (S3) for the 30th Brigade Combat Team, NC ARNG. Wayne served a combat tour in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004 and was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Infantryman's Badge.
Michael (ret.) served with the Nassau County Police Department on Long Island, New York from 1958 to 1998. While there, he served as deputy and commanding officer of the Firearms Training Unit. Mike developed a new and progressive tactical firearms program known as the “Decision Course”, which he taught to thousands of officers within his department and outside including IALEFI and NRA. In 1981 Mike also helped found the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI) and served as president of IALEFI from 1991 to 2000. He is a member of the NRA Law Enforcement Assistance Committee and is a competitive pistol shooter.
Bob retired in January 1996 after 25 years of LE Service, with his most current assignment as a Major and Assistant Director of NH State’s Police Academy. During his tenure he was instrumental in the development of the state’s firearms certification and training courses, and was responsible for the certification and training processes for all state level instructors. Bob is a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and he has received specialized training in firearms and the use-of-force through numerous nationally recognized training institutions and has taught on a state, national, and international level throughout his career. He has also served as the Executive Director of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), Inc., for the last 18 years.
Ray has been in the law enforcement and security field since 1979. He was a member of SWAT at Kennedy Space Center/Cape Canaveral Air Force Station for 19 years prior to accepting his current position as a Firearms Instructor at the Kennedy Space Center firing range. Ray has completed instructor certification courses through Team One, Heckler and Koch, NRA and FLETC in tactical handgun, submachine gun, patrol rifle, and precision rifle as well as low light/laser, active countermeasures and use of force. He also has armorer certifications through Heckler and Koch, Beretta and Glock.
Dave has served as a member of the Clifton New Jersey Police Department for the past 30 years. During the past 5 years he has been assigned as the department’s Range Master. Dave is one of the founding members of the Tactical Response Team which was first formed in 1983, where he serves as an operator and the team’s lead firearms and tactics instructor. He has trained law enforcement and military personnel throughout the country as one of the original adjunct instructors with Heckler & Koch’s International Training Division from 1990 through 2002. He has been instructing with Team One Network since it’s inception.
A former Marine Corps Scout Sniper and 20 year Law Enforcement veteran, John currently serves as Lieutenant for the Indian River County Sheriffs Office, Vero Beach, Florida. John is a former SWAT Team Commander and 17 year veteran of his department SWAT team. John has been a contract trainer for Armor Holdings, Inc. since 1996 and specializes in Ballistic Shield training. He has instructed cutting edge Ballistic Shield courses to all levels of Law Enforcement and Military personnel worldwide. John is also a certified instructor in firearms, defensive tactics and CQB and holds a B.S. from Barry University in Public Administration -- Cum Laude.
Michael has 28 + years experience with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He spent 11 1/2 years assigned to the SWAT team, Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB), where he was part of the training cadre and unit armorer. Michael trained with numerous Military and Law Enforcement personnel and has been assigned to the Department’sTraining Unit for the past 8 years, of which the last 4 1/2 years has been as the Department armorer. He is a Sage Master Instructor.
Mike is the East Coast Manager for Simunition®. He retired from Law Enforcement after 24 years of service, 13 years of this was spent on the SWAT team. Mike has taught in-service training, the Criminal Justice Academy, MCTFT drug task force and the Florida SWAT Assoc. Mike’s training focus was in the high liability areas of Driving, Firearms, Defensive Tactics and Tactical Operations. Mike then spent 2 yrs as a full time instructor with HK International Training Division instructing subguns, rifles and pistol at the operator, advanced, and instructor level teaching shooting skills, tactics and the armorering of firearms.
Dave is a professor of Criminal Justice and is department head of Police Science at Thomas Nelson Community College in Virginia. He is an Instructor at the Allied Armed Force Staff College and Christopher Newport University. He has more than 20 years of experience in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, serving as both a Police Officer and as Deputy District Attorney in Los Angeles, CA. He has worked extensively as a consultant to State and Local Law Enforcement agencies on use of force training, civil liability, departmental policies and procedures, gangs, high-risk search warrants and tactical operations. Dave is also author of several books on these topics.
Bill is an Army Infantry veteran and is retired from the Clifton, New Jersey Police Department after serving 30 years. Bill worked four years in the patrol division, 11 years in the Tactical Street Crime unit, three years in the Motorcycle Traffic Unit, and 12 years as a detective. During the last 15 years of his service he worked on the Tactical Response Team where he participated in hostage rescue, high-risk warrant services and barricade subject arrests. Bill had also been an adjunct instructor for Heckler & Koch.
Mike is a USAF Security Forces member and currently assigned to the Pentagon in Washington D.C. He serves as the Personal Security Officer for a Senior Military Official. In his 16 years of experience he has performed protective service missions, law enforcement duties, flight line security, combat arms training and has served as an emergency services team member. He was the Chief of the Firearms and Tactics Unit for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). He has trained over 100,000 students throughout the world.
Pete has spent more than a decade of his 19-year law enforcement career teaching peace officers. He is a lieutenant with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office in Florida, after starting his career with the Lake Worth Police Department. Ebel formerly commanded the LWPD SWAT team, as well as its street crimes, vice and K9 units. He holds a wide variety of instructor certifications, mainly in high-liability and use of force areas. He is an adjunct instructor with the Palm Beach Community College Criminal Justice Institute, where he instructs basic academy and advanced classes.
Ben is a retired First Sergeant with the Prince William County, VA Police Department and a retired Sergeant Major (Reserve) with the Army Special Forces. He served 26 years as a sniper team leader. He has instructed for several different organizations on a number of law enforcement, security, and executive protections subjects with sniper operations, SWAT operations, surveillance photography, security operations, and intelligence collection being his focus.
Troy is a retired Master Sergeant from the Air Force, where he served 20 years of service and was assigned to an Air National Guard, Special Operations Wing. He worked in the Security Forces career field where he performed law enforcement duties, flight line security, and instructed defensive tactics and close quarter combat. He is also a Force Protection/Anti Terrorism Instructor. He has 17 years experience with the Pennsylvania State Police, spending 14 years as a Patrol Trooper. He is currently assigned to the Advanced Training Division at the main Pennsylvania State Police Academy, which is responsible for developing curriculum and conducting training for State, Local and other authorized law enforcement officers in a wide range of advanced training courses.
Lou Ann has been in law enforcement since 1990 and currently works for the patrol division of a Michigan-based police department and has had many roles during her law enforcement career to include; a temporary assignment with a DEA Task Force. Lou Ann is a certified firearms and defensive tactics instructor in a variety of disciplines. Lou Ann also serves on the Board of Directors for IALEFI. Lou Ann has written articles that have appeared in police publications. She currently serves on advisory boards for Police Marksman Association, PoliceOne.com, Redman and is a consultant and presenter with Calibre Press-Street Survival Seminars. Lou Ann holds a master's degree in Human Performance Technology and Instructional Design from University of Michigan.
Neil started his career with a 100 man South Florida municipal police department. He spent most of his career as a SWAT team member, serving as a sniper, entry team member and team leader. Neil is a state-certified firearms trainer and holds instructor certifications in pistol, shotgun, sub-gun, carbine and other SWAT/Tactical related disciplines. He has served as a road patrol officer, field training officer, tactical patrol force (street crimes) officer and undercover narcotics agent as well as supervising the tactical patrol force and K9 unit. The agency was merged with its county sheriff's office and Neil is currently assigned as a sergeant in the patrol division.
Michael is a noted edged weapons instructor and author of numerous books and instructional videos. A decorated U.S. Army veteran and former DIA intelligence officer, Janich has also designed knives for Masters of Defense, Spyderco, Combat Elite, BlackHawk Blades and numerous custom knifemakers. He is currently the Brand Manager for BlackHawk Products Group’s two knife companies.
Ed is the Associate Dean of Public Safety with the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. He has over 24 years of law enforcement service. Ed has held management positions and has 20 years of tactical experience, serving as an operator, team leader and commander. He retired from the Brown County Sheriff’s Department (WI) as the Chief Deputy. He holds an M.S. in Leadership and Organizational Design and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Ed has over 10 years of experience with protective services including international operations. He instructs weapons, physical and vehicle tactics. He also instructs several terrorism related topics.
Jim is a Sergeant with the City of Oshkosh (WI) Police Department with over 24 years experience. He served 21.5 years with the departments SWAT and Crowd Control Units as team leader and training coordinator. Jim has a BS in Criminal Justice from University of Wisconsin and holds numerous instructor and master instructor certifications in areas of SWAT, Firearms, Defensive Tactics and Less Lethal force options. He has conducted Instructor certification training since 1995 for Def-Tec, MSI/Federal Lab, Sage and Armor Holdings. Currently he provides training and sales for Combined Tactical Systems in the Midwest. He is a past board member of the SWAT and Training Officers Associations of Wisconsin.
Mike has 29 years of Law Enforcement experience. Mike has worked at several municipal departments in Palm Beach County before joining the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Mike has also served on many specialized units including the Dive Rescue unit, Drug enforcement unit, Street Crime suppression unit and Special Response team. While assigned to the Department’s Special Response Team, Mike held positions as Entry Team Member, Scout Sniper, Team Leader and Team Commander. Since joining the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office he has served in the Patrol Division as a Deputy Sheriff and Field Training Officer. He is currently assigned to the Training Bureau as Instructor and Range Manager. Mike holds instructor certifications in all the high liability areas.
Steve is a 32-year veteran of the North Carolina Department of Justice where he served as the Senior Firearms Instructor for the North Carolina Justice Academy. He was responsible for the training and certification of all law enforcement firearm instructors; all concealed carry handgun instructors, and all armed security firearms instructors. He has attended most major firearms manufacturer armorer courses and coordinated training programs such as Sniper, Submachine Gun and teaches basic SWAT courses. Steve currently serves as the Director of Special Projects for the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association and was recently appointed as a member of the North Carolina Private Protective Services Board. Steve also serves as the President of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI).
Doug is retired from the Montgomery County Maryland Police Department. He has over 25 years experience in investigations, surveillance and counter-surveillance. He has been a member of international security details, the Olympics and all over the globe. He has provided personal security as a driver, advance agent, principal agent and shift leader. Doug has provided executive protection for a major cable network, musicians and professional athletes, celebrities and international business executives.
Deron has 16+ years experience with the Pennsylvania State Police after leaving college to join. Deron has served in patrol, crime and is currently assigned as a full time instructor at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey, Pa. He is currently assigned to the Advance Regional/ In Service Training Division. Deron is responsible for developing curriculum and conducting training for State, local and others law enforcement officers. Deron has trained and been trained throughout the country in Defensive Tactics, Firearms, Officer Safety, Vehicle Operation and Scenario Development.
Gary T. Klugiewicz employed by PoliceOne as Director of Training for the PoliceOne Training Network. He also is the Director of the Active Countermeasures Instructional (ACMi®) Systems, a national defensive tactics training entity. Gary is retired from the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department after 25 years of service where he was promoted to the rank of captain. He has a background in Knockdown Karate where he won national championships and fought several times in Japan. Gary brought this high impact intensity to law enforcement training. His name has become synonymous with the development of safe but realistic, intense, dynamic simulation training. Gary is the developer of the Active Countermeasures System of Unarmed Blocking and Striking Techniques that is the cornerstone of High Level Control Tactics. He has developed programs for police, corrections, military, security, and mental health professionals and is a member of the ForceScience Research Center advisory board.
Marty is a veteran of 28 years of law enforcement special operations and management. LaBrusciano has served in a wide variety of special operations, specializing in bomb disposal, explosive breaching and Special Weapons and Tactics. Additionally, he has held a wide array of management assignments. LaBrusciano spent 25 years at the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office (Florida) where he retired as a Deputy Director of Metropolitan Operations. After his retirement, Marty served as the Police Chief of Casselberry, Florida for three years. He is a Navy veteran, a graduate of the FBI National Academy and Law Enforcement Executive Institute, in addition to earning an undergraduate degree in psychology. LaBrusciano instructs a wide range of domestic and foreign law enforcement and military personnel.
Norm is a retired Sergeant with the Rockaway Borough Police Department in New Jersey and has 23 years of law enforcement experience, with 20 years as a firearm instructor. He was head of firearm instruction at the department and taught firearms to basic recruits at the Police Academy. Norm is also a submachine gun and assault rifle instructor. He is involved in train-the-trainer course on terrorism with the joint terrorism task force in New Jersey.
Coach recently retired from Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in New Orleans, Louisiana where he was Director of Security for the Jefferson Parish President’s Office, police survival instructor, range master, director of the training academy, and commander of the communications center. A graduate of Loyola University and the FBI Academy, he has qualified and testified as an expert witness and is a published author.
Jason is a former Marine Scout Sniper promoted to the rank of First Sergeant. His career in the Marine Corps included participation in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Jason’s law enforcement experience includes ten years with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department, and nine years with the Santa Monica CA Police Department as the Range Master. Jason has traveled extensively conducting numerous law enforcement firearms classes.
Tom Marx left the Chicago Police Department in 1988 to become one of three instructors at the Smith & Wesson Academy in Springfield, Massachusetts. After several years of teaching full time both nationally and internationally, he shifted roles at Smith: first to a series of technical positions and then as Head of their Domestic Law Enforcement Operations. He left S&W to organize a Law Enforcement Division for Michaels of Oregon as well as to help design and market much of their police-related duty gear. Leaving Uncle Mike's, Tom became the Director of Intellectual Property for BLACKHAWK! Products Group in Virginia; focusing on the patent efforts for all of their divisions. Today, he is privately employed as a consultant in various firearms, accessory and training matters. Throughout his tenure at Uncle Mike's, BLACKHAWK!, and now as a consultant, Tom has continued to lecture and instruct both inside and outside the US with such diverse groups as ILEETA, IALEFI, WIFLE, LETC, NDIA, and the NRA.
Ron McCarthy is an owner of R.M. McCarthy & Associates, a training and consulting resource for law enforcement. Ron served as a Los Angeles police officer for twenty four years. He was assigned to the Department’s Tactical Unit, Metro Division for twenty years and retired from Special Weapons and Tactics as the senior supervisor and assistant commander in 1984. Ron was the Chief of Tactical Operations for the U.S. Department of Energy and the Director of the Deadly Force Training Grants for the U.S. Department of Justice and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and served as Manager of IACP’s Center for Advanced Police Studies. Ron is qualified in federal and state courts as an expert witness in police tactics, field operations, SWAT, use of force, use of deadly force, training, critical incident management, and hostage incidents. He is also co-author of the book, The Management of Police Specialized Tactical Units, published by Charles C. Thomas, Ltd.
Tom has 22 years of law enforcement experience. Tom started his career with the Florida Marine Patrol in 1984 where he worked as a patrol officer. In 1986 he joined the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office. There he worked as a street patrol officer for 4 years. He has been working in the Sheriffs Marine Enforcement Unit for the past 16 years. He is a Dive Team leader for the underwater recovery unit, and a former Marine K-9 handler and a member of the Waterborne Response Team. He established the current waterborne firearms course and instructs marine deputies along with state and local officers.
Andrea Micheli is a former Swiss Army NCO. He served as Panzegrenadier and military security specialist. During his duty time he performed protective service missions (Kosovo, UNO Geneva, Swiss Border) and combat arms training to Swiss Army militia personnel. Andrea has completed instructor certification courses through Suarez Intl., Team One and Stategos Intl. He is also a firearms instructor of the Italian National Shooting Association (T.S.N.) Section of Lucca, Italy and an active member of I.A.L.E.F.I. Andrea is the founder and director of Tactical Advantage, a firearms and tactics training company based in Zurich, Switzerland and as a military and law enforcement specialized journalist (member of the Italian Journalist Federation) he writes for several magazines.
Gary J. Monreal has over twenty years of law enforcement experience in corrections, patrol, SWAT, and training. As a patrolman with the City of New Berlin, WI Police Department, his duties also include SWAT Team Leader, specializing in explosive entry. Gary is an instructor-trainer and currently teaches chemical munitions, defensive tactics, firearms, Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS), Active Shooter, less lethal, vehicle contacts, high-level simulations, submachine gun, Taser® and SWAT. Gary is an adjunct instructor in the technical college system for the State of Wisconsin and has given various presentations at firearms and SWAT conferences throughout the United States.
Ecko has 33 years experience with the Hesse State Police (Germany) where he is responsible for the development and improvement of state firearms training programs, defensive tactics programs and the implementation of Interact Defence-Training of which he is the co-developer. He has served 20 years with the Frankfurt Police Department, working riot control, Anti-Drug operations, execution of warrants and executive protection. For the past 23 years he has become a certified active firearms instructor both nationally and internationally, instructor for defensive tactics, CQB, and executive protection. He is President of the Polizeitrainer in Deutschland e. V. (Police Trainers of Germany n.p.O.), a consultant of European Union law enforcement training programs and co-editor of the POLIZEITRAINER MAGAZIN. Ecko is Team One Network's International advisor.
Erett is currently a Training Officer in the Clarksville Police Department. He instructs Firearms and Defensive Tactics, and serves as his departments Rangemaster. Erett is a retired U.S. ARMY veteran with a Special Operations background. Erett has been training individuals for more than 20 years and has attended numerous firearms and tactics courses.
Charlie has 27 years Law Enforcement experience in NJ, and he currently serves in the Belleville Police Department Detective Bureau as Sergeant, firearms instructor, and is attached to the County Rapid Deployment Team. He is also the SWAT Team Administrative Officer as well as the Team Armorer. Charlie has completed instructor certification courses through the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice, Armor Holdings, and the NRA in the following disciplines, pistol, shotgun, rifle, assault rifle, and 40mm gas. Currently, Charlie holds armorer certifications from the following manufacturers, S&W, Glock, Sigarms, Benelli, Ruger, Colt, Springfield, Remington, and FN Herstal.
Mel is the Operations Director for Tower Training Associates, a part of Resolution Security of London and is specifically responsible for operations and training in the fields of CT, VIP Protection, Security Driving and Security Awareness Training. Prior to joining Tower Training, he was the Operations Director for Sigma Projects Limited and served in the British Army with the 22nd Special Air Service Regiment. On leaving the Army in 1989, he was employed in the Defense Industry as a consultant in overseas training tasks and equipment development for Doughty Armour-shield and Royal Ordnance. He served with the British Army for a total of 31 years. He works with Simunition® of Canada and Aim Point of Sweden as a consultant trainer.
Jamie is a member the Spokane Police department for the past 17 years, a member of the crowd control/riot team before joining the SWAT Team for the past 10 years and has served as a marksman for 9 years. He is a certified Precision Marksman and Submachine Gun Instructor He is the Dist 5 representative for Washington State Tactical Officers Association for the past 4 years. Jamie also serves as Field training officer and is an Instructor at academy for Domestic Violence and Field Interviews.
Vince is President and CEO of Pestilli and Associates. He has represented many firearms manufacturers including Benelli, Bushmaster, Franchi, Stoeger and HK. He has recently retired as a Master Sergeant from the Massachusetts National Guard with over 40 years of combined service in the U.S. Army and MA National Guard 26th Infantry Division. His military assignments have included; Unit Marksmanship Program Coordinator for the MA Army National Guard, Soviet Military Weapons Instructor, Foreign Military Weapons Instructor, Instructor for U.S. Army Anti-Terrorism School and NCOIC for Small Arms Training Unit, MA Army National Guard.
Jim is currently a Patrol Division Commander at the Camden Police Department in New Jersey. He has been a street officer for 30 years. For 26 years he was on the Tactical Force, holding positions as operator, supervisor and commander of the SWAT team. He is widely published in the field of clandestine and exotic weaponry and an expert witness on police use-of-force. Jim is a certified instructor in firearms, defensive tactics, impact weapons and crowd control tactics.
John is a retired Command Sergeant Major from the U.S. Army. During 21 years of service, John spent time in various Infantry units around the world. He has participated in multiple military missions, including one as a U.S. Liaison to the U.N. in Macedonia. As a Master Trainer, he has taught Fighting in Built up Areas, CQC marksmanship, and breaching, to U.S. and allied militaries. He currently is a Special Operations Manager for BLACKHAWK! Products Group in the Southeast.
Arie Ponsen is a police veteran with over 29 years of experience. His duties have included patrol officer, highway patrol, riot control unit and Firearms and Special Tactics Training. Since 1989 he has been a full time Senior Firearms and Special Tactics Instructor for the Rotterdam Police Department in the Netherlands, where he is responsible for Research and Development. He developed the Motor Officer Safety Training and introduced OC-spray, soft body armor and a new duty holster to the Dutch police forces. He has also recently been assigned to the national training center’s expert team to develop the new Firearms and Special Tactics Instructor Course for the Netherlands.
Beverly is currently employed with the City of Burnsville, Minnesota. She has taught in-service defensive tactics and firearms and has been an FTO. Beverly is a Medal of Valor recipient honored by her agency for her heroic efforts in an officer involved shooting incident. She currently serves as a firearms instructor at the local police academy and has instructed privately for The Association of Training Officers of Minnesota (ATOM) in the area of female specific firearms training. Beverly was a co-developer and presenter of an "in-the-schools" anti-shoplifting program (S.M.A.R.T. Students Made Aware of Retail Theft) which has received local and national recognition.
O. Frank Repass is a nationally recognized firearms expert and court certified expert. Frank served as the Orlando Police Department Range Master for 21 years. He was selected as FOP 1999 Officer of the Year. Frank served for 21 years on the Orlando Police Department SWAT Team where he performed more than 500 operations. He was the first Chairman of the Competition Committee for the Annual SWAT Round Up. He retired from active duty after 25 years of distinguished service. He currently teaches local, state and federal law enforcement in the areas of firearms operations, tactical firearms and SWAT. He has been an IALEFI member since 1984 and has served on the board of directors since 1986. Frank is the 1st Vice President of IALEFI and currently is the Range Master at Kennedy Space Center.
Randy Revling is the primary instructor of the Law Enforcement Academy and The Center for Instructor Development for the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay, WI. He is a retired Captain and a 28-year veteran of the Brown County Sheriff’s Department in Green Bay, WI where he served as Patrol Division Director and later as Professional Standards and Training Division Director. He was the Team Leader of the Emergency Response Unit (SWAT), Patrol Shift Commander, and Department Training Sergeant. Randy developed the curriculum for the Wisconsin DOJ Firearms Training Guide and has contributed to recent revisions. He also developed and currently instructs the WI DOJ Firearms Instructor courses for Handgun, Tac Rifle, Submachine gun and Shotgun. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Also, a Master Instructor for TASER®. Randy provides expert witness assistance to officers in State and Federal proceedings.
Joe has been a police officer for 19 years. His assignments have included Patrol, Special Operations, Vice and Training Division. His current assignment is as a sergeant in the Patrol Division. Joe spent 12 years in his departments Emergency Response Team and acted as a Team Leader, lead firearms instructor and armorer for the team and the department. Joe is a certified instructor for handgun, shotgun, submachine gun, rifle, less-lethal and defensive tactics.
Johns’ teaching career started in the mid 1980’s when he was assigned as a Combat Arms Training Instructor (CATM) in the United States Air Force. During his Air Force career, John taught firearms skills to Air Force Security Police, Air Force Base Law Enforcement Personnel, Para Rescue units and Combat Controllers. John is currently a Sergeant with the West Palm Beach Police Department. In 1989, John became member of the departments SWAT Team where he served 16 years. During those 16 years he served 13 years on the Entry Team and 3 years as a Sniper Team Leader. He also instructed the teams’ defensive tactics program. John worked on the Departments CAT Team, a street level narcotics unit that performed drug buys, wrote search warrants, conducted prostitution stings and tactical patrol duties. John is actively involved in the Martial Arts of Brazilian Jujitsu and Muay Thai kickboxing and trains officers in ground defense and street survival tactics.
Lt. David Roddy has been a member of the Chattanooga Police Department SWAT Team since 1999 and has held positions ranging from Scout, Entry, Squad Leader, Team Leader and is currently the Team Commander as well as Special Operations Commander. Lt. Roddy oversees team activities and training as well as tactical command. He is a thirteen-year veteran of the department and holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration. Throughout his career he has held assignments in gang investigations, narcotics enforcement, patrol supervision, and training assistance. He has provided tactical training in firearms, entry techniques, woodland operations, waterborne operations, less lethal munitions and linear assaults. David has been a speaker at national law enforcement conferences as well as a consultant for several product and training companies across the United States. He has written articles that have been featured in The Firearms Instructor (IALEFI), The Tactical Edge (NTOA) and the Tennessee Tactical Police and Paramedics Association periodical.
Bill is a Sergeant with the City of West Palm Beach, Florida. Bill’s current assignment is as the Training Unit Supervisor and Range Master. He is a 17 year veteran of the SWAT Team where his current position is the Operations Sergeant and Lead Instructor. Bill has extensive firearms training and holds multiple certifications as a Pistol, Shotgun, Rifle, Submachine Gun and SAGE Less Lethal Weapon Instructor. Bill has instructed courses for Palm Beach Community College Criminal Justice Institute, Off Shoots Training Institute, SAGE Control Training, and Heckler & Koch International Training Division.
Dan has more than 25 years of law enforcement experience and is currently the full-time Special Response Team Commander for the Grand Rapids Police Department in Michigan. He has been involved in tactical operations for over 18 years and has held every rank and position on the Special Response Team. Dan has instructor certifications in handgun, shotgun, Master submachine gun, Senior Master TASER Instructor and is a training board member for TASER International, distraction devices, aerosol projectors, specialty impact munitions, tactical chemical agents, Simunition® scenario instructor and safety certification. Dan is Clandestine Lab certified, a site safety officer, and has attended several WMD tactical operator and commander courses. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Session #217.
Tony has been training people to protect themselves from violence for over 30 years. His name is synonymous with high-risk driving training and his clients are heads of state, corporate executives, security driver/chauffeurs and professional security personnel in government and the private sector. He has trained more than 700 personnel from corporations in 29 countries on five continents. He teaches from hands-on, life experiences, which can only be acquired from experiencing a variety of environments, some of which find crime and terrorism a daily occurrence. Colombia, Peru, Iran, Kuwait, Jordan, Mexico, Brazil, Egypt, El Salvador, Haiti, and Pakistan are some of the countries in which his programs have been implemented.
Trevin Sorby has been a member of the Prince William County (VA) Police Department since 1989 and has been a member of the SWAT Team since 1992. He is a First Sergeant, and the Assistant SWAT Team Commander. His prior assignments include patrol officer, firearms instructor, defensive tactics instructor, and patrol supervisor. He is currently assigned to the Special Operations Bureau.
Heather Stone has been an officer at the Chattanooga Police Department since 2002. She worked midnight shift in a high crime area in the patrol division for six years and is now a Crime Scene Investigator. She is also a member of her department's tactical team. Heather is a former All American in Cross Country and 1,500 meters at the University of the South and is a certified personal trainer and competitive endurance athlete.
Bill is founder and President of Tactical & Survival Specialties, Inc. (TSSI) and is retired from the U.S. Navy after 24 years of active and reserve service. His military background is quite diverse spending over half of his career assigned to Naval Construction Force Units (Seabee’s). In addition to being Seabee Combat Warfare qualified, Bill was also recognized as a Master Training Specialist and Instructor in small arms marksmanship, crew served weapons, small unit tactics, law enforcement and physical security skills. Concurrently, Bill has been involved in the law enforcement and military special operations community for over 20 years providing tactical equipment, technical and logistic support. He holds certifications as an instructor in chemical munitions, distraction devices, and the MP5 submachine gun.
Ross has been employed as a Brevard County Deputy Sheriff for 15 years. During that time, he has taught Defensive Tactics, Firearms, and Use of Force within the Department, at the local academy, to many of the areas agencies and has presented at several international law enforcement conferences to include ASLET, IALEFI, and ILEETA. Ross has completed instructor certification courses with Team One. He also holds several Defensive Tactics instructor certifications.
He is currently an assistant team Leader on the department's Special Weapons and Tactics team and have been on the team for the past 10 years. As an entry team member, his primary duty is to secure and control physically resistant subjects. He also serves as the team's primary Defensive Tactics and Firearms instructor.
Richard is a board certified emergency physician and medical toxicologist. He is also a sworn police officer in New Berlin, Wisconsin. He has been active on the New Berlin Police Department SWAT team for 10 years. He is a less lethal, OC and TEMS instructor. Dr. Tovar has published numerous articles on tactical and forensic medicine. He is a member of the Anti-terrorism Advisory Council for South Eastern Wisconsin U.S. Dept. of Justice.
Joe is a retired Detective from the Clifton Police Department which he served for 28 years. A decorated Marine Corp Veteran with Vietnam Combat service, he was assigned as a Tactical Team Leader/Instructor. Joe was the senior member of the Passaic County Hazardous Devices Technician Team and, has been a consultant for explosive entry for the past 23 years. He is a Fire Arm Instructor and former Range Master of the County of Passaic in New Jersey.
Kathleen Vacca graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. degree in Journalism and Communication. After five years as a reporter, she traded in her 35mm camera for a .38 revolver and began her law enforcement career. During the next two decades, Kathleen worked in a variety of assignments, including patrol, narcotics, training, juvenile crime, internal affairs, and gang intelligence before retiring as a sergeant in the drug unit's major case squad. As a high liability instructor, Kathleen taught defensive tactics, mobile field force, tactical communication, and rapid response to active shooters. She is an adjunct instructor with the Multi-Jurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force and teaches surveillance courses at the local, state, and national level.
Rich is a former Police Sergeant, having retired after nearly 21 years with a municipal police agency in N.J. Rich served as a Patrol Officer, Patrol Supervisor, E.S.U. member and Team Leader and prior to his retirement, he was the department's Training Officer and Rangemaster. He has been a member of IALEFI since 1989 instructing at numerous training conferences and is currently serving as a member of the IALEFI Board of Directors. He is a NJ State certified Rangemaster and a member of the NJ Attorney General's Firearms Advisory Board.
Kathleen has been a police officer working the street by choice since 1988, currently in Ann Arbor Michigan. She holds bachelor’s degrees in both Exercise Physiology and Criminal Justice, and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA). She is a consultant and trainer for the state of Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) and is part-time faculty at the Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor. She designed, implemented, and is currently the primary instructor of the Health and Wellness curriculum at the WCC Police Academy. She is past president and governing board member for the International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA), and frequently teaches nationally in the areas of fitness and wellness, police officer survival skills, and police cycling. She is a former NCAA Division I and II athlete in the sports of softball and volleyball. She has published numerous articles in national police training publications, holds instructor certifications in numerous police force disciplines, and is a member of various professional organizations.
Ty is a ten year Air Force veteran. Following his military service he served with the Hazleton, Pennsylvania Police Department. For the past ten years Ty has been working in the Law Enforcement & Military sales markets as Operations Manager for Heckler & Koch Inc., Senior East Coast Sales Manager for FN Herstal, USA, and Director of Sage International’s Tactical Weapons Division. Currently Ty is the Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager for Blackhawk.
John is a six-time New York Times best-selling author. He wrote nine Rogue Warrior books as well as the acclaimed CIA novels SOAR, Jack in the Box, and Direct Action. His CIA short story “There Are Monsterim” was selected for Best American Mystery Stories, 1997. He also wrote Shadow Warrior, the bestselling story of CIA agent Felix Rodriguez. A former journalist, he has worked in more than three dozen countries. From 1994-2002 he war gamed counterterrorist response scenarios at the Heckler & Koch International Training Division. He has also worked with the Loudoun County (VA) Sheriff’s Office on their SERT exercises.
Mike is currently Assistant Chief of Uniformed Patrol and Support Services Command at the Chattanooga Police Department in Tennessee. He supervises about 450 of the department’s 650 sworn and civilian employees. He was a former director of training at the Chattanooga Police Academy and was full time SWAT Team commander for serveral years. As a 33 year Law Enforcement veteran and a 25 year veteran SWAT officer, he served as an operator, Team Leader and Team Commander and still acts as a senior advisor and trainer for Chattanooga SWAT. He is a member of the IALEFI Board of Directors and editor of its magazine, The Firearms Instructor. Mike testifies as an expert witness in State and Federal Courts on the Police Use of Force and tactical team operations and teaches Team One’s Tactical Commander Course.
Matt is currently West Coast Regional Manager for Blackhawk Products Group. His service in the U.S. Army, included the 12th Special Forces Group (Airborne). He also worked as part of a CET (Contraband Enforcement Team) — a joint Army, DEA, and U.S. Customs task force. Matt’s subsequent law enforcement experience includes seven years as a police officer and sheriff’s deputy in North Las Vegas and Carson City, NV, where he served as a SWAT Team element leader and worked in narcotics and gang suppression units. Matt is a certified instructor in handgun, rifle, and subgun, as well as Breaching, EVOC (the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course), Active Shooter, Defensive Tactics/Countermeasures, and the PR24/Expandable Baton. He is armorer qualified in SAGE and AR-15 systems.
Robert C. Willis has trained federal, state and local agencies and officers for over 25 years in the areas of defensive tactics, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, vehicle contacts, professional communications, constitutional law, report writing and numerous other disciplines. For a decade he co-presented the Calibre Press “Street Survival® Seminar” across the USA and Canada. He still works as a police officer (part-time) and is a sworn deputy sheriff. Bob is a full-time Instructor at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He often serves as a litigation consultant and “expert witness” and has testified in Federal and State Courts, Grand Jury Hearings, Coroner’s Inquests as well as Police Disciplinary Hearings to explain and critique the force and/or procedural actions of officers. Bob authored the original State of Wisconsin’s Defensive and Arrest Tactics Manual and has contributed articles to national publications.
Fred is a retired U.S. Army veteran with an extensive Special Operations background in both the Army Rangers and Special Forces. His law enforcement experience includes patrol, SRT, team leader, defensive tactics, firearms, and tactics instructor. Fred has trained SWAT teams throughout the country and worked with the U.S. Department of Justice as a contract officer in Haiti, Bosnia, and several other countries. Fred worked for Heckler and Koch International Training division for 8 years.
John is a decorated Marine Corps Vietnam veteran, retired from 23 years of New Jersey Municipal and State law enforcement service. He served as a SWAT team leader and his 30 years of experience as a law enforcement firearms instructor includes five years as a full-time regional instructor for H&K’s International Training Division. John is presently New Jersey’s State Range Master, coordinating all recruit and in-service law enforcement firearms training.
