Basic ATV Safety and Law Enforcement Patrol Techniques
This 3-Day course is designed to certify officers in ATV Safety to comply with state laws. The course will be a combination of classroom, scenario and outdoor training. At the completion of this course the officers will not be expert riders, but safer riders. The course is designed to provide the officers with a chance to become familiar with ATV operation and patrol techniques in a controlled setting. Officers will learn about ATV laws, ATV maintenance/safety checks, proper riding techniques, proper riding gear, how to conduct law enforcement stops/pursuits, and officer safety concerns unique to ATV enforcement. The course will also teach officers how to effectively work in pairs and communicate while on patrol. Officers will be exposed to scenarios that will get them used to drawing their firearm and seeking available cover while conducting ATV patrol. This course will help reduce departmental ATV accidents, injuries and property damage.
