Curtiss A. Spanos

Curt is a veteran of the United States Air Force. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a degree in Business Management and Police Administration.
Curt became a police officer in Howard County, Maryland and served over 35 years in the Department, rising to the rank of Sergeant. During Curt’s career, he received numerous commendations for investigations and his interaction with the community. He also received several Medals of Valor for hostage rescue, high risk arrests, and use of deadly force incidents. He assisted in starting the Department and Metro Area Tactical Teams (SWAT), beginning on the entry team and working into the sniper position. Curt was involved in hundreds of SWAT calls, ranging from hostage rescue, to high-risk arrest, to warrant entries. He attended the FBI Academy, receiving certifications from the FBI SWAT School, FBI Hostage Negotiation and Terrorism School, and FBI Sniper and Survival Training School. He also received sniper training from the Army’s #1 Marksmanship Unit at Fort George G. Meade.
Curt is a Firearms Instructor, certified for rifle, pistol and revolver, semi-automatic and fully-automatic weapons. He received his Firearms Instructor Training at the Secret Service Training Center in Beltsville, Maryland.
Curt has also been factory trained for Armorer service and maintenance for the following firearms manufacturers:
Smith and Wesson, Sig Sauer, Glock, Ruger, Colt, Benelli, Springfield Arms
Curt also enjoys several different firearms disciplines, to include Cowboy Action Shooting and Black Powder Muzzle Loading.
